In the past state senators, lawyers, a commissioner and a neighborhood pharmacist have been the recipient of the Granada House Award. We have not given the award to an ex-resident until now. Ramon Rosales was a client in 1988. He came into the house with a back pack and little else. As a client he was asked to help make simple repairs to an older building and never asked why, he just it did. He went to work everyday at a local glass company. He graduated from the house and came to work as a group facilitator and a counselor. He bought that Glass Company he worked for. He became very busy with his life, work, marriage and fatherhood and took a leave of absence from the house. But he continues to say YES anytime we call and ask for anything. A new client needs a job; the house needs a new window, a broken screen needs repair, air conditioner needs to be put in.The driveway gets plowed every snow storm, when asked about how much we owe he just smiles. He gives back to the Granada House in everyway possible. The Granada House Award is given to people who advocate for people in Recovery and in particular the residents of the Granada House. The award will be given after the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors on March 17, 2010. At a ceremony at 5p.m. to be followed by an Awards Dinner.
